»Jesse Stubbs for NJ State Senate · District 8

The people of the 8th
are my crew.

Twenty years in the Air Force taught me one thing: you don't leave anyone behind. I'm running for State Senate to fight for the families, veterans, and neighbors who make District 8 home.

The mission

A statehouse that works as hard as the people of the 8th do — honest, steady, and on your side. No drama. Just the work.

Where I stand

Four fights worth showing up for

01

Lower the cost of living

Cut taxes for working families, take on price-gouging, and bring down what we pay for housing, health care, and groceries.

02

Cut the waste in Trenton

I have run multimillion-dollar operations where every dollar — and every life — counted. I will bring that discipline to Trenton: audit the budget, cut the waste, and make sure your tax money reaches your streets, schools, and seniors.

03

Stand with veterans

Nobody who served should wait months for care. Faster benefits, real mental-health support, and good jobs when the uniform comes off.

04

Protect our democracy

I swore an oath to the Constitution — and I meant it. Defend the freedom to vote and keep extremism out of New Jersey.

For our military families

An agenda for the families behind the mission

District 8 is home to the men and women of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and the veterans who settled here after the uniform came off. They keep their promises to us. Here's how Trenton can keep its promises to them.

  1. 01

Let military spouses work from day one

Twenty-two states already honor the professional licenses and certifications a military spouse earned elsewhere. New Jersey does not — so a nurse, teacher, or electrician who moves here for a posting can sit on the sidelines for months waiting on paperwork. I'll bring New Jersey in line with reciprocity so service doesn't cost a family a second paycheck.

  2. 02

Get every kid a real ride to school

Our schools were laid out for a walk-to-school era that hasn't matched rural South Jersey for decades. Without dependable transportation, the school choice we promise parents is choice on paper only. Funding accessible busing means where a military or rural family lives never decides where their child can learn — a cornerstone of any serious commitment to premier education.

  3. 03

Protect the programs that feed our airmen

Too many active-duty airmen and their young families rely on SNAP and WIC to put food on the table. These programs should stay available, stay funded, and stay free of new red tape that keeps eligible families from the help they've earned. The fix is largely federal — but New Jersey's senator should be in the room advocating for the families stationed here.

  4. 04

    Stop taxing military retirement

Half the country doesn't tax military retirement pay. New Jersey does, and it drives our retirees out the door. A retiree who stays puts far more into the local economy than the state ever collects on their pension. I'll champion pension tax relief in the Senate so the 8th becomes a place these veterans want to stay, spend, and lead.

  5. 05

Bring untapped Air Force dollars home

The Air Force, through the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Installations, Environment & Energy, will assess school infrastructure near its bases and award grants to fix it — new HVAC, modern cafeterias, and more. The 8th has barely touched this money. I'll work to bring those federal dollars home to modernize our schools and build the healthy, welcoming spaces our kids deserve.

Meet the candidate

From the flight deck to Trenton

I spent 20 years in the Air Force — flying KC-135 tankers and C-17s, instructing other pilots, and leading crews on missions across four continents. When every life on board depends on everyone doing their job, you learn the mission only works when the whole crew does.

I came home to South Jersey to raise my daughter in Medford Lakes, and I still fly. I've watched neighbors get squeezed by rising costs and ignored by Trenton. District 8 doesn't need another politician. It needs a wingman.
